Having Builders in

September 06 I made a claim on my insurance, Legal and General in the UK. My garage had cracked brickwork and a pair of long cracks on the garage floor. I wasn't sure if it was the building as built, or some outside effect. Their agents eventually decided it was the effect of trees taking moisture from the soil and accepted the claim. 14 months later the trees have been removed and the builders are in to repair the damage. The brickwork is nicely repaired, using Helifix rods. Quite a neat solution. Similarly these rods need fitting into the floor to stitch the two parts of the crack together. Cutting the floor (big 12" diamond blade saw, very effective) literally covered the garage in dust. Seems the loss adjusters and the builders between them decided to save a few pounds and leave me with the dust to clean up. Thanks Crawfords, just what I need. Two days in the garage dusting and wiping down. One to avoid if you have the choice.

The two guys doing the job expected a clear garage and couldn't have been more helpful, I dread to think what the guy following them will think when he has to make good the painted floor.
