HG (Hagensan) Steel polish. A review

A while back we put up some new tiles in the bathroom. Rather than simple glossy ceramic tiles, they appear somewhat matt. What I do know is that the surface isn't as resistive to marks as glazed ceramic tiles. I accidentally scraped some aluminium down the tiles, leaving a mark that wouldn't come off with any cleaning fluid we tried. When I phoned the tile supplier up, they recommended a steel polish? What? It was described as being 'tiny balls that seem to get into the surface and remove marks!'. OK. Guessing they knew what they were talking about we bought some. HG steel polish. Tried it. It works. Goodness knows how/why. Who cares. I was impressed (and relieved, I was getting grief over the marks!)

Skip a bit. Long time 'marks' in our house are in the bathroom sink. This time, normal ceramic / porcelain whatever sink unit. I wear a wristwatch with a steel strap. Washing my hands I've obviously scratched/marked the surface of the glaze. Again, couldn't shift the marks. Tried the HG steel polish? Yep, you guessed it. Hey this stuff is good.

The boring bit. We have a stainless sink unit in the kitchen. It gets stained/marked with use. Use this stuff for what it was intended.... and yes, you guessed it. It works.

I'm very very impressed. It's not cheap, but it works, and works well.

Back to the tiles. The guy who tiled the bathroom mentioned 'protecting' the grout with this stuff. We did, having had tile grout become discoloured on us before. No idea how long it will last, especially in the shower, but so far so good! From my experience with the steel polish, and believing our tiler, I guess I will wind up recommending this grout protector
