Landscapes with a Wow factor

I was pointed to Charlie Cramers website yesterday, from Mike Johnsons photography blog. I went for a look, prompted by Mikes two images and the write-up. I could sit and stare and the Lakes or Scottish hills for hours, so these hit home hard with me. Some of them are quite amazing. That guy knows how to wield a camera. Mike calls him a 'lyrical landscape photographers', admitting he does it 'surpassingly well'. I just think they are great photographs. Seems he sells them too, at 'reasonable' prices, whatever that means for a photograph, I've never bought one.

Ah, yes 400-2000 US$. 11x14 through 40x50.

I recall being in a gallery in Bradford (an ex mill). I took a fancy to a pencil sketch about 24x40", sort of abstract, lots of details, exeedingly well done. I stared at it for ten minutes then suddently thought these are on sale, lets see. I hiked down four floors and asked. The guy looked it up. An American woman artist. That ones 7K. Thanks... and I walked off, chastened. I've absolutely no idea what 'art' is worth, so goodness knows what a great photograph is worth.

Seems Charlie used to use dye transfer printing - a new one on me. One guy describes taking a week to make a print! I guess some people like a real challenge. He certainly does well with his digital prints. Thanks for putting them up Charlie! I'll be back looking for new gallery entries.
