Kenwood Major. Review?

A review? Well, yes. Sort of. I've normally done a review when I've had something new, for a few days, or weeks, or want to praise something, or complain about it, in public. This is just a little different. Kenwood are a company (US? UK?) based, that have been making food processing kit for some time. In particular, ther food mixers go back at least to the seventies. I know, since in December, either 71 or 72, I went up the road from where I lived in Grimsby, and bought a Kenwood Major (no longer in their model range I note). At the time it was expensive. Around fifty pounds UK. I wanted a good 'un, since at the time we were making our own bread weekly and wanted the capability to mix a couple of pounds of dough without hassle. We didn't get any.

Thirty seven years later and it still does the job. Admitted it's needed a little tlc over the years. Once a guy in Stevenage sorted the speed control out. Another guy in Peterborough gave it a spruce up more recently. Apart from that it just, sort of works. Looking rather tired maybe? This is the beasty. Grown quite fond of it, and with a replacement costing just under three hundred quid UK, I'm loathe to replace it.

The bummer is that Kenwood are more than a little reluctant to talk to their customers AFAICT, no general feedback form/email address. Perhaps they stopped it because ... you guess. I wanted to let them know I like their thirty year old product. I wonder if their more modern stuff is built to the same standard?
